WINTER CONTINUES - MARCH 11, 2023

Moose Entrance - 3.11.23
Winter has kept a firm grip on Jackson Hole and the Teton Range with abundant snow and frigid temperatures.  It's hard to believe that spring officially starts in nine days! We remain slightly above average in the Snake River basin with respect to Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) at 107% of normal.  Settled snow depths are around 40-50 inches in the valley and 100-120 inches in the mountains. Avalanche activity and precipitation have remained steady since mid February.  For more details on the state of the snowpack and the latest avalanche forecast please visit the Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center website.

The deep snowpack makes life especially difficult for animals, including our bighorn sheep! Please do your part to help us protect these amazing creatures by abiding by winter wildlife closures and voluntarily avoiding critical habitat zones.  Click here for the latest closure map.

Winter backcountry camping permits are required and available by phone by calling 307-739-3309 on weekdays and 307-739-3301 on weekends.
