SNOWY CONDITIONS REMAIN - MAY 27, 2017

Snow-free conditions remain the exception, rather than the rule on all but the lowest elevation trails, where there are larger sections of dry trail showing.  Travel in the high country above 9,000 feet is still 100% snow and an ice axe and, possibly crampons, are needed for safe travel in steep terrain and while traversing mountain passes.  Avalanches are still a potential threat and backcountry users should remain cautious, especially on steep slopes during hot afternoons.

The Jenny Lake Ranger Station will open on June 3rd at 8:00 a.m.  Trail closures remain in effect along the southwest shore of Jenny Lake and at Hidden Falls.
