SPRING IN THE TETONS - APRIL 21, 2014

An amazing spring weekend brought many visitors out to Grand Teton National Park. It was a great weekend for a variety of activities and many participated in more than one. There was perfect crust cruising during the early morning hours and a corn snow that came into shape for ski mountaineering. If that was not enough there was road biking with a view along the Teton Park Road.

As a reminder, a backcountry permit is required for overnight camping and can be picked up at the Craig Thomas Visitor Center. Also Be Bear Aware! Bears may be encountered at anytime.

Here are a few photos taken during a recent tour over Peak 10,696 to Buck Mountain showing the upper elevation snowpack. The days are getting longer now, locals are getting higher into the mountains and it looks like we could have a good spring ski season this year.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY - FEBRUARY 17, 2014

Photos taken after the recent Valentines Day Storm. Numerous large avalanches occurred during this week long storm system that delivered several feet of heavy snow at upper elevations and rain in the valley. Another storm is expected this week adding to the strain on the snowpack. Safe travels to all!
