RANGER STATION CLOSED FOR SEASON - SEPTEMBER 4, 2016

The Jenny Lake Ranger Station is closed for the season. Backcountry camping permits can be obtained at the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center in Moose or the Colter Bay Visitor Center in Colter Bay. Call 307-739-3309 for more information.

As we move into fall, climbers and hikers should be prepared to deal with changing conditions, including:

·         Snow, ice and verglas in shaded areas, especially on north and west aspects above 11,000 feet

·         Freezing overnight temperatures. On average, temperatures drop 3 degrees for every 1,000 feet of elevation gain.

·         Shorter days- usable light until 7:30-8:00 pm.

·         Rescue operations can be limited by reduced staffing, severe weather and limited helicopter use. Consider your climbing objectives carefully and be prepared for self-rescue. 

Specific route condition updates will be limited as we transition to fall and staffing is reduced. This Homepage will continue to provide periodic updates on general Teton Range conditions throughout the winter.  

UPDATE ON TRAIL CLOSURES - AUGUST 23, 2016

The Glade Creek, Lower Berry Creek, Lower Owl Canyon and Lower Webb Canyon trails are closed due to very active wildland fire activity. These conditions are changing daily and the canyons will remain closed until further notice.

BAXTER'S PINNACLE OPEN - AUGUST 2, 2016

The closure due to peregrine falcon nesting has been lifted.  Thanks to all park visitors/climbers for respecting this closure.
