HAPPY HOLIDAYS - CONDITIONS UPDATE - DEC 20, 2021

View from Taggart TH

Bottom meadow of North Ridge, 25 Short

Snow level is still unusually low for this time of year. We've had significant snow since about Dec 5, and adventurous backcountry travelers are certainly getting out, but the snowpack in the lower-elevation zones is still very thin at best, making access to and exit from ski terrain challenging.

If you get high enough for good coverage, the dry spell resulted in significant crusts on more southerly aspects and weak faceted snow on more northerly aspects, all buried beneath our more recent storm snow. Check out the BT Avy Center's Park-specific discussion at the link below:

Numerous moose have been frequenting the flats below 25 Short and Maverick... give these majestic animals a wide berth. At least one team of skiers has been charged recently.

Keep an eye on the forecast, and keep doing your snow dance! Be safe, and we'll see you in the hills!
