Conditions remain snowy in the high country above 9,000 feet and an ice axe, and possibly crampons, are needed for negotiating steep terrain at these elevations. The Lower Saddle, Owen-Spalding route, and Paintbrush Divide, among many other locations, all require an ice axe and crampons for safe passage at this time.
