IMPORTANT ECLIPSE NEWS - AUGUST 19, 2017

Backcountry camping permits are SOLD OUT for the eclipse (Sat. & Sun.).  Park rangers will be staffing trailheads and patrolling backcountry areas to strictly enforce permit requirements and backcountry regulations.  Below are some key points to know during this extremely busy period of time:

Expect parking areas to fill so please arrive early.  If the parking lot is full, you will need to find alternative parking in another lot or at a visitor center, and then arrange transportation to your trailhead.  Any cars blocking access for through traffic or emergency vehicles will be towed at the owner's expense.

Campers must use all nights on a permit to keep the permit valid.  If a camper fails to initiate a permit on the first scheduled night, or exits the backcountry while the permit still has valid nights, the permit is automatically cancelled.

Camping without a permit, camping in undesignated areas, or camping in the wrong zone or site, may result in mandatory citations requiring an appearance in court and law enforcement may escort violators from the backcountry.

Please do your part to protect our natural resource during this time of intense demand and visitation.  Thank you.
