Winter has arrived a little early in the Tetons. A recent storm system has dropped 1-2 feet of snow in the upper elevations above 9,000 feet. With only 4-6 inches of snow below this elevation, travel off trail can be pretty treacherous, especially when attempting to negotiate boulder fields and scree. Ice climbs, including the Black Ice Couloir, are not in at this time. Winter travel in the Teton backcountry is not to be taken lightly.
